BEHIND THE STORY...
Another example of me reaching into my past and developing an idea based on one of the books I had written. I thought this would not only be fun to watch, it would help build interest in some of their classic characters. I again was told the audience had no interest in how animation was made, or its history.
And now my pitch...
CARTOON SUPERSTARS
An Animated Prime Time Special or Series Proposal by John Cawley
Based on the Book by Jim Korkis & John Cawley
Hosted by a live action celebrity & CGI Regular
Combine A&E’s “Biography” with MTV’s “Pop Up Video” and you have CARTOON SUPERSTARS! A live action host introduces the event, but once the bio begins, our CGI character begins popping up all over to showcase trivia and wild historical facts.
Based on the book by Cawley & Korkis, CARTOON SUPERSTARS will focus on the creative life of some of animation’s most loved characters.
Each character (or team or group) will be featured in 7 minutes of classic clips highlighting key moments.
The narrator (who may or may not be the host) will give a chronological order to the procession.
Our CGI character will continually pop up with relevant information about the characters, the creators, other events of the time, comparisons to other characters or creations, bloopers and other fun trivia.
Never dry or scholarly, CARTOON SUPERSTARS will give audiences a new perspective on some of the favorite characters, and make certain they can pull an ace out of the hat when playing “one-ups-man-ship” when the topic turns to toons at work, school or around the house.
