NOT HALF BAD
Original Pitch by John Cawley – June 2003

BEHIND THE STORY...

When it was announced Adult Swim would start stepping up their production slate, I submitted this idea. It was based on the concept of reality shows where you throw a bunch of different characters together and have fun. In fact, I thought the idea was good enough to adapt the concept into other series (see “Kennel of Super Pets”, “Pet Peeves”.) I thought this had a lot of potential for comedy. The exec liked it, but felt the network should now be moving away from such shows as HARVEY BIRDMAN and SEALAB by building their own new characters. They felt the classic characters should stick to Boomerang.

And now my pitch...

Not Half Bad

Where Bad Goes Good… Sort of

Having served their time for their crimes, these criminal failures are getting a second chance. They now reside in a halfway house where fellow felons are also attempting to make “good”.

The former evildoers’ personalities range from career criminals (who only want one more chance to finish their evil deed) to sincere reformers (who hope to resist temptation) to just plain stupid.

Connie is the manager of the house. It’s her job to make sure these crooks go straight… or go straight back to jail! Whether it’s listening to their get rich quick schemes, trying to discover their secret plotting, or simply putting up with their insults, Connie has a busy day ahead.

Regulars at the revolving door of rehabilitation could include Dick Dastardly, Fibber Fox (from Yakky Doodle), Giant Potato (from Huck Hound), Gazoo (“I’m not a criminal, just a trouble maker”), Proessor Zin (Jonny Quest), The Blob (Dynomutt), Magic Rabbit (Scooby Laff-A-Lympics), Yellow Pinkie (Secret Squirrel), Killer Diller Gorilla (Atom Ant), Wilfred Hyde White (Scooby Doo), Fangface (who keeps claiming he’s a monster, not criminal), Fiendish Fiddler (The Impossibles), Captain Greedy (Ruff n Reddy), and Lotta Litter (Yogi's Gang).
