WILD IN THE CITY
Original Pitch by John Cawley – December 9, 2003

BEHIND THE STORY...
Living in the mountains, I see lots of wildlife. I also know that in Southern California, wildlife can exist about anyplace. So I thought of teaming up two creatures one can see almost anyplace in California, a coyote and a possum. Sort of saw them as comedy team, a pair of hucksters who move from the outskirts of the city to downtown in hopes of getting a better life. The network actually thought this was a funny idea and asked to see more. In the end, the duo did not get off the ground. Around a year later, Dreamworks announced the start on a feature version of OVER THE HEDGE, a comic about animals in suburbia.

And now my pitch...

WILD IN THE CITY (aka PATCH & RATTY)
Two country critters try city life.

An Animated Series Proposal by John Cawley

Patch, the coyote, and his buddy Ratty, the possum, are trying to survive in the big city. The pair gave up the country life to live amongst the garbage cans, freeway onramps, stores, people, pets and alleyways. While Patch schemes to improve their life, Ratty constantly pulls things out his pouch. It is an "Abbott & Costello" relationship that combines Yogi Bear and Top Cat.
